MUSEOMIXKIDS + AMUSEN
MuseomixKids is a holiday camp that allows children to create their future museum.
18 – 22 February 2019
AMusEn and Museomix pool together to organize a unique holiday camp (18-22 Feb 2019) allowing kids from 8 to 12 y.o. to design some activities of the future children’s museum planned in the new neighborhood of Les Cherpines (Plan-les-Ouates/Confignon).
Coached by experts, the kids will create prototypes with both usual materials (paper, scissors…) and new technologies (programming, robotics). At the end of these 5 days, an exhibition will present the results and the young ones will be the guides!
All along this holiday camp, kids will mix art and technology, applying the Museomix principles: cooperation, co-creation and innovation.
English-speaking children welcome!

Children participating in MuseomixKids reflect on their favorite museum.
What is a museum for me? That’s the question. What I love about a museum, what do I understand, what do I want to do there? “Coaches” surround them and help them think about it. The children will then be able to give free rein to their imagination, the future museum is in their hands for the days to come. Subsequently, groups are formed and children begin to create prototypes. They will have to present the imagined activity and how it will be lived by the visitor.
Day 2,3 and 4
The “construction” begins. In a traditional way with scissors and paper, but also by using new technologies: virtual reality, programming or experimentation of light. Everything is allowed! At any time, “coaches” are ready to react in order to obtain a material or a device which is not available in the stock which is already consequent.
Friday is the last day of the workshop, it’s time to think about the nature of the exhibition and the mediation of the prototypes. The focus is on signage, staging and conservation. Do we need leaflets for the exhibition? Do you need a plan to find out what’s in the exhibition? How to organize a guided tour?
Day 6 and 7
The weekend has arrived, it’s time to take a tour in the exhibition. For 5 days, the children will have imagined the future Children’s Museum. The public will be able to discover and admire the final results during the weekend of February 23rd and 24th. The young teams will offer one-off guided tours.
